Researcher biography

Former NCYSUR student Dr Laura Anderson was awarded her PhD by the UQ School of Psychology in August 2022. Currently she is an Early Career Research Fellow at Cancer Council Queensland in Health Systems and Behavioural Research. Dr Anderson uses quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand health behaviours. At CCQ, she is working to increase cancer screening rates and improve treatment outcomes. At NCYSUR, Dr Anderson’s primary supervisor was Associate Professor Gullo. She was awarded a Research Training Program Scholarship and a Children’s Hospital Foundation top-up scholarship. Her PhD research investigated the psychological factors that convey risk for unsafe sexual behaviours during adolescence, particularly impulsivity and social cognition.
