Researcher biography

Dr Laura Anderson is an Early Career Research Fellow at Cancer Council Queensland in Health Systems and Behavioural Research, where she uses quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand health behaviours. 
Dr Anderson was awarded her PhD by the UQ School of Psychology in August 2022. At NCYSUR, under the primary supervision of Associate Professor Matthew Gullo, her PhD research investigated the psychological factors that convey risk for unsafe sexual behaviours during adolescence, particularly impulsivity and social cognition.  For this work, Dr Anderson was awarded a Research Training Program Scholarship and a Children’s Hospital Foundation top-up scholarship.
At CCQ, her current projects include working to increase cancer screening rates and improve treatment outcomes.
